A former high-ranking American International Group insurance executive has been named to the Qatar Financial Center Authority board of directors.

Ian Cormack, previously European chief executive of AIG Inc. and founding partner Cormack Tansey Partners, was named to the QFC Authority's board of directors, it was announced yesterday.

The board will provide strategic guidance to the QFC Authority, including overseeing its management and setting appropriate policies to manage its risks.

QFC Authority Chairman HE Yousef Kamal said appointment of the board was crucial in the continued development of the authority.

The QFC Authority is the commercial, administrative and legislative body responsible for driving the commercial strategy of the Qatar Financial Center and for developing relationships with the global corporate community.

In addition to Mr. Cormack and Mr. Kamal, QFC Authority Director General Stuart Pearce will sit on the board, the first meeting of which is now set for May 2.
