John Q. Doyle, president of American Home Assurance Company, a subsidiary of American International Group Inc., has been named president and chief executive officer of National Union Fire Insurance Company of Pittsburgh, Pa., AIG said.

The company said Mr. Doyle, 42, has also been named AIG senior vice president, domestic general insurance.

AIG also announced that Christopher A. Maleno, president of American Home's excess casualty unit, was named executive vice president and chief operating officer of American Home.

Mr. Doyle, who will remain in his current position as president of American Home, will assume responsibility for National Union, AIG's principal provider of management and professional liability products and services.

He succeeds John W. Keogh, who has left the company to take a position with Ace Ltd.

Mr. Doyle joined National Union in 1986. He assumed the presidency of American Home in 2002, overseeing the domestic brokerage group's excess casualty, workers' compensation and extended warranty divisions.

Mr. Maleno, 39, served as president of AIG excess casualty, a division of American Home. He joined AIG in 1995.
