Risk retention groups in light of ongoing debates about regulation and corporate governance issues will be among the hot topics at the Arizona Captive Insurance Association's annual conference, May 16 in Phoenix.
"Beyond the Basics: A More Sophisticated Captive World" is the theme of the annual conference, to take place at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel.
The Az-CIA noted that it wishes to demonstrate that Arizona is "not only a leading domicile but is also doing some things beyond the traditional way of handling captives."
In addition to a Captives 101 course in the beginning of the conference, Az-CIA said it has partnered with the International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE) to present an educational module titled: "Protecting the Captive: Predicting Risk, Reinsurance and other Transfer Mechanisms."
This in-depth four-hour program has been approved for nine CE credits and can be taken as a stand-alone educational seminar, according to the association. It also is a core course for ICCIE's overall designation program for those working in the captive industry. ICCIE is an industry educational effort aimed specifically at captives and the professionals who deal with alternative risk finance.
