James Hirt, executive director of The Public Risk Management Association (PRIMA) since 2001, resigned earlier this month, according to a PRIMA Web site announcement.
PRIMA's board of directors is to begin an immediate search for a successor, according to a press release. PRIMA spokesman Marshall Davies said he wasn't aware of Mr. Hirt's future plans, or why he left the association. Mr. Davies said he would be serving as executive director in the interim.
Mr. Hirt joined the Alexandria, Va.-based association in 2000.
"The board is extremely appreciative of the many years of service Jim gave to PRIMA and for his numerous accomplishments," said James E. Huckaby, PRIMA president. "We wish him the best of success in his future endeavors."
PRIMA is a national not-for-profit association that provides public risk management education, information and advocacy for nearly 2,000 members representing counties, cities, schools, states, park districts, transit authorities and water districts.
