Disaster response, anti-terrorism, hurricane research, public health and insurance industry experts will speak at the U.S. Travel Insurance Association's annual conference, the group said.
Titled "Catastrophes: Pending Doom or Manageable Risk?" the meeting will examine risks facing travelers and how the travel and insurance industries can manage events such as pandemics, catastrophes and terrorism.
The Richmond, Va.-based association's event is scheduled for Feb. 26-28 at the Sanibel Harbour Resort & Spa in Fort Myers, Fla.
Panelists will discuss:
o Risks and threats affecting the travel industry and U.S. travelers at home and abroad.
o The impact of natural disasters and terrorism on insurance costs, policy provisions and tourism.
o What the industry can do to manage risk.
o The threat of Avian Flu and its affect on the travel industry.
Among the speakers listed is Dr. Thomas Holzheu, senior economist, Swiss Re Group.
