Willis Group Holdings Limited named Derek A. Smyth its chief financial officer of the firm's North American operations.
He will report to both Mario Vitale, chief executive officer of Willis North America, and Patrick Regan, CFO of Willis Group, and will be based in New York City.
Mr. Smyth is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales. He previously was with General Electric Company, where for more than 13 years he served as vice president for securitization, as well as strategic pricing and financial planning and analysis. Mr. Smyth also served as CFO for GE Capital IT Solutions in Munich, Germany.
Prior to his tenure with GE, he was financial controller with Sovereign Finance PLC, and was an auditor with Bowater Industries and KPMG in the United Kingdom.
