GEICO Earns Webby Award

The 9th Annual Webby Awards gave the nod to GEICO.com for best insurance Web site earlier this summer. In 2004, GEICO partnered with CDG Solutions, Inc., to redesign the insurer's site. Visits to the site have increased by 31 percent since the change.

“I know how hard our associates worked to earn this recognition,” says Jess Reed, CIO for GEICO. “We are proud of their efforts to better serve our customers and consumers. This award is the high point of recognition for GEICO.com that we are honored to receive.”

Created in 1996, the Webby Award is the top international award for excellence in Web design, creativity, usability, and functionality. Sites are recognized for excellence in content, structure, navigation, visual design, functionality, interactivity, and overall experience.

CDG Solutions works with businesses on issues such as branding, messaging, developing user-centric layout, or designing a navigation system. Its print designs include corporate branding and identity, brochures, collateral materials, periodicals, annual reports, and other publications.

“In creating a new design, we highlighted the depth of the site's functionality by developing a fresh, fun visual design that capitalized on GEICO's established brand identity,” says Scott Adams, president of CDG Solutions.

GEICO (Government Employees In-surance Company) is the fourth-largest private-passenger auto insurer in the United States serving more than six million policyholders with more than 10 million vehicles insured.

Other nominees in the insurance field for the Webby were Progressive, CIGNA, The Doctor's Company (a medical malpractice insurer), and the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries, which won a People's Voice Webby.
