State Farm has developed a homeowners' education and inspection program for policyholders residing in areas at high risk for wildfire. The program is aimed at increasing policyholder awareness of wildfire danger and equipping insured homes to better withstand wildfire losses.

Insureds will be mailed Firewise loss-prevention materials outlining techniques to help decrease the possibility that their homes and property are damaged or destroyed in wildfires. Policyholders are asked to evaluate their properties and make changes to reduce the risks of loss from wildfire. In the summer of 2005, State Farm will conduct visual hazard assessments of properties and make further recommendations, including determining continued insurance eligibility.
