Last year's unusually active hurricane season prompted record numbers of people to log on to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration web site. For all of 2004, NOAA's home page received 1.2 billion hits.
To ease traffic on its site, NOAA has introduced a new way to follow specific tropical storms or hurricanes. Once a storm is deemed a threat, NOAA's Storm Tracker will offer links to associated advisories, tracking maps, and satellite images.
The new tracking tool is available at www.stormtracker.noaa.gov.
