Philip Love, chief executive officer of South Carolina Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company, has been named board chairman for the Tampa, Fla.-based Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS).
Mr. Love succeeds Dale Hammond, formerly group executive, Unitrin Inc., who will remain on the IBHS board as immediate past chairman. Mr. Love was previously the IBHS board's vice chairman and chairman of its executive committee.
The board vice chair position will now be held by Steven George, senior vice president of USAA. Stanley Smith, executive vice president of Farmers Insurance Group, was named executive committee vice chairman.
The appointments are effective January 1, 2006.
IBHS is the non-profit property loss reduction trade association of the property-casualty insurance industry that works to reduce commercial and residential property losses and associated costs caused by extreme weather, natural events, water damage and residential fire.
IBHS counts among its members more than 200 insurers and reinsurers.
