A California trade group of insurance agents has changed its name from the American Agents Alliance to the Alliance of Insurance Agents and Brokers.

The name change became effective Sept. 30, when it was unveiled at the association's annual convention in Indian Wells, CA.

David Nielsen, president of the trade group, said the new name comes at a time of great progress for the association. "Over the past year we have gone through a metamorphosis," he said. "The Alliance is more powerful than ever, fighting and winning numerous key legislative and regulatory battles."

Mr. Nielsen said the name reflects the fact that "we are truly an alliance for both agents and brokers. We are committed to working together on our members' behalf. We wanted the new name to better reflect the many strong alliances we have built and will continue to foster."

The Carmichael, Calif., insurance executive added that the Alliance of Insurance Agents and Brokers is "the most effective member-driven trade association representing property & casualty insurance professionals in California."
