Claims management firm Crawford & Company Catastrophe Services said it is speeding up efforts to graduate dozens of trained adjusters to deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Rita and other disasters.
The Atlanta-based firm said Crawford & Company's continuing education facility, Crawford University, has escalated adjuster recruiting and added training classes, noting that more than 100 individuals will receive basic adjuster training over the next several weeks.
Once they finish training, Crawford said the new adjusters will be immediately deployed to assist the industry in addressing client requirements associated specifically with Hurricanes Katrina and Rita as well as other catastrophic events.
Tom Crawford, Crawford & Company's president and chief executive officer, said his organization is "aggressively recruiting and training adjusters. With storms as large as Katrina and Rita, it's a fact that there is a need for additional insurance adjusters right now."
Prior to Rita's Saturday strike on the Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coast, Crawford said it had begun staging efforts by placing adjusters on stand-by and allocating resources.
The company said it had also placed its satellite trucks on stand-by to aid in voice and data transfers of information to carriers where the area's infrastructure is compromised.
Crawford said the satellite truck deployment means its catastrophe adjusters are begin processing claims immediately.
