David Spiller was named president of Guy Carpenter & Company, Inc., a reinsurance broker and subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan Companies.

Mr. Spiller, 49, will assume his new position on Jan. 1, 2006. A spokeswoman said the position has been vacant for a number of years.

"[Mr. Spiller] is a well-respected leader in our industry and will be a welcome addition to Guy Carpenter's senior management team," said Sal Zaffino, chairman and CEO of Guy Carpenter.

Prior to his appointment, Mr. Spiller was chief executive officer of Benfield Ltd. in London, chief executive of its international division, and a member of its executive committee.

MMC's other insurance brokerage subsidiary, Marsh, announced that Larry Goanos has joined the firm as a senior vice president and senior client development advisor in the U.S., and Robert A. Parisi Jr., has joined as a senior vice president and leader of the Technology & Telecommunications Industry Practice for Errors & Omissions.

Both will work at Marsh's financial and professional liability practice known as FINPRO.

Mr. Goanos was previously a senior vice president and financial services industry practice leader at ACE USA.

Mr. Parisi joins Marsh after five years with American International Group as senior vice president and chief underwriting officer for its eBusiness Risk Solutions division.
