The National Association of Insurance Commissioners is considering alternative plans for its fall quarterly meeting that is scheduled for Sept. 10-13 in storm-ravaged New Orleans.
NAIC Executive Vice President and CEO Catherine Weatherford said in a notice on the Web site that the staff is exploring options, while considering transportation and accommodation needs in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina's damage to the city.
She said she anticipates having more information tomorrow.
"When a final decision has been reached, an advisory noting any meeting changes will be released," she said.
NAIC spokesman Scott Holeman said among the options being considered are alternative dates and locations, but the challenge of finding a meeting site for 1,500 regulators and industry participants remains daunting.
