The International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE) in Burlington, Vt., said it will offer five courses prior to the annual conference of the Vermont Captive Insurance Association (VCIA) in Burlington.

The pre-conference ICCIE courses will take place Aug. 7-8 at the Sheraton Hotel & Conference Center in Burlington, Vt. Conference dates are Aug. 9-12.

The courses offered are:

o Introduction to Alternative Risk Financing Mechanisms, which offers five CPE credits, Aug. 7, 8:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

o Business Ethics in the Captive Insurance Industry, offering five CPE credits, Aug. 7, 1:00 p.m.-5:30 p.m.

o Protecting the Captive: Predicting Risk, Reinsurance and other Transfer Mechanisms, for nine CPE credits, Aug. 7, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

o Understanding Risk and Risk Retention Mechanisms, for nine CPE credits, Aug. 8, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

o Forming and Operating a Captive, which offers nine CPE credits, Aug. 8, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
