Mark L. Gardner, an insurance industry veteran with regulatory experience, has been named to the newly created position of director of compliance at USI Holdings Corp. brokerage
The Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.-based firm said Mr. Gardner will lead the effort to design and implement the company's regulatory compliance program and code of conduct.
Mr. Gardner was vice president and chief compliance officer at General Star Indemnity Company, based in Stamford, Conn., a provider of excess and surplus lines insurance and specialty property-casualty insurance. It is a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway. Prior to joining General Star, he was deputy superintendent at the New York Insurance Department.
He will report to Ernest J. Newborn II, USI's senior vice president, general counsel and secretary. Mr. Newborn is a member of the Audit Committee of the USI Board of Directors.
