The Captive Insurance Council of the District of Columbia said an educational seminar on the basics of captive insurance, that aims to inform commercial buyers on alternatives to rising insurance prices, is being held July 13 in Princeton, N.J.

According to the association, mid-to-large-size companies have a unique opportunity to reduce insurance costs using captive insurance.

The seminar offers educational opportunities for professional service firms such as accountants, attorneys and financial management companies, CIC-DC said.

There is no charge to attend the program but advance registration is required.

The seminar is offered in cooperation with the New Jersey chamber of commerce, July 13, 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Hyatt Regency, Princeton, N.J.

Lawrence H. Mirel, Washington, D.C. commissioner of insurance, is the featured speaker.
