NU Online News Service, May 13, 12:26 p.m. EDT–Former Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson and Tom Scully, an expert on Medicare, Medicaid and other federally funded health programs, will be keynote speakers at the fourth annual Employee Benefits Leadership Forum.

The benefits conference, sponsored by The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers, will be held June 1-4 at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va.

Mr. Thompson headed the Department of Health and Human Services during President George W. Bush's first term. He is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the opening session June 2.

A former governor of Wisconsin, he gained national attention with his landmark welfare-to-work proposals that served as a model for welfare reform efforts passed during the Clinton administration.

Mr. Scully, who is scheduled to speak on Friday, June 3, served as the administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services from 2001 to 2003. The agency is responsible for management of Medicare, Medicaid, the federal children's health initiative, and other national health care programs.

He is currently senior counsel in the Washington, D.C., office of Alston & Bird and a senior adviser at Welsh Carson Anderson and Stowe, the largest private equity investor in health care.
