Senate Whip To Address Agents
NU Online News Service, March, 3, 4:00 p.m. EST?The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America said Senate Majority Whip Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., will speak to its members next month during its National Legislative Conference.[@@]
Mr. McConnell is scheduled to speak during a breakfast to be held April 21.
The Alexandria, Va.-based association's conference will run April 20-22 at the Grand Hyatt Washington.
Robert A. Rusbuldt, IIABA's chief executive officer, said that as one of the key members in the Senate, Mr. McConnell is in a position to advance reforms on issues of interest to the membership, such as tax and legal system reforms.
Sen. McConnell was elected to the Senate in 1984 as the first Republican to win a statewide race in Kentucky since 1968.
The legislative conference will include an in-depth issues briefing session; Congressional reception on Capitol Hill; appearances by numerous high-profile speakers discussing important insurance and national issues confronting lawmakers as well as agents and brokers in Washington, D.C.; and hundreds of meetings on Capitol Hill between independent agents and brokers and their elected representatives in the Congress.
