New AIA State Affairs Person
NU Online News Service, March 14, 3:30 p.m. EST?The American Insurance Association announced today that Tammy Velasquez has been appointed vice president and director of state affairs for the organization.
Washington-based AIA said Ms. Velasquez will work with AIA's six regional teams to manage the association's state-level resources and design strategies on key public policy issues.
"Tammy has a deep understanding of our industry, and a keen appreciation for how best to integrate policy, politics, grassroots and public affairs in order to win legislative campaigns," said Leigh Ann Pusey, AIA senior vice president, government affairs.
Prior to joining AIA, Ms. Velasquez worked in the District of Columbia's Department of Insurance and Securities Regulation as chief of staff and director of public affairs.
