NU Online News Service, March 11, 1 2:44 p.m. EDT?Carriers and other insurance offices will be able to use Web services to capture and manage all types of data with a new software portfolio unveiled by IBM.[@@]
According to Somers, N.Y.-based IBM, the new content and information integration platform will "leverage information across diverse repositories, providing a single view of business critical information."
IBM said its DB2 Content Manager 8.3 helps automate processes by providing graphical tools. "To help streamline compliance efforts," the company noted, "IBM is the first company to automate records control of content through integration with DB2 Records Manager."
This integration, said IBM, helps ensure "automatic, consistent and accurate records declaration and classification across all forms of business content."
DB2 Document Manager 8.3 provides simplified, automated document lifecycle management, said IBM. DB2 CommonStore 8.3 provides archiving and retention management of e-mails, attachments and messaging systems content.
According to Theresa O'Neil, director of marketing, content management for IBM, the new platform is an answer to the challenge of many carriers' multiple data repositories. "It allows you to define records in one place and have it apply across systems, automatically," she said.
Ms. O'Neil added that the platform is available in both "legacy" and full versions, depending on a carrier's needs. Pricing details were not provided.
