Captives Launch Cayman Relief Effort

NU Online News Service, March 2, 4:26 p.m. EST?Captive insurers have initiated a fundraising and re-building effort to help the Cayman Islands, which are still struggling to recover from last year's Hurricane Ivan damage.[@@]

CRICO, the Harvard Medical Institution's captive, and the Insurance Managers Association of the Cayman Islands announced they have established a fund to help Cayman and they invite the entire captive industry to contribute. So far $200,000 has been raised?the goal is $1 million in 2005, the organizations said.

Initial focus is purchase of an ambulance and other equipment for the Cayman Islands Cancer Society and The Pines Nursing Home. These needs were identified by the Cayman Islands Health Services Authority.
