Wetmore To Leave NAIC, Lobby For California
NU Online News Service, Feb. 8, 10:20 a.m. EST?David Wetmore, director of government relations for the National Association of Insurance Commissioners in Washington, D.C., is leaving his post to serve as the Washington lobbyist for the state of California, it was announced.[@@]
As of Feb. 21, Mr. Wetmore will assume the position of assistant to California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and director of the governor's Washington, D.C. office. The appointment does not require state senate approval and comes with a $123,000 annual salary.
"I am confident David will use his strong background in federal-state relations and deep understanding of the federal issues impacting our state to advocate successfully for the people of California in Washington, D.C.," said Gov. Schwarzenegger.
Prior to joining the NAIC in 1999, Mr. Wetmore served as director of the Washington office of former California Gov. Pete Wilson.
