PIA said the Federal Legislative Summit will be held on April 7 in Washington, D.C. The event is a one-day gathering of the association's members to meet with their elected representatives and discuss issues that concern independent agents.

The meeting, PIA said, will kick off on the evening of April 6 with an informal, in-depth issue briefing for participants at the Marriott Crystal City in Arlington, Va.

The morning of the summit, participants will gather on Capitol Hill for breakfast at the Capitol Hill Club for a briefing on PIA's current legislative initiatives by members of Congress and PIA lobbyists.

"PIA's annual legislative summit is an important part of our year-round program of legislative advocacy," said Terry Adams, PIA national president.

Mr. Adams noted that, "Laws passed by Congress have a direct impact on the ability of our members to serve the insurance needs of their customers. We must always be proactive in Washington, D.C. to ensure that as far as PIA members and our clients are concerned, good legislation is passed and bad legislation is not."

Speakers for the event will be announced later.

PIA said that following a day of lobbying on the Hill, participants will be invited to attend a reception sponsored by the PIA Company Council of Executive Officers, followed by the PIA Political Action Committee's annual fundraising dinner.
