NU Online News Service, Feb. 15, 9:52 a.m. EST?The International Center for Captive Insurance Education announced today it has been approved as a Continuing Professional Education sponsor by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy.[@@]
The NASBA action means that CPE credits have been pre-approved by NASBA for all five ICCIE core courses?available both online, by teleconference and in traditional classroom settings, Burlington, Vt.-based ICCIE said.
"This will make a tremendous impact," Mitch Cantor, ICCIE executive director, told National Underwriter. "Since last May I have talked with a number of people about the program. One of the top things mentioned was approval of CPE credits."
Mr. Cantor said ICCIE is also looking into expanding the CPE program to include legal education courses.
He said the program, which began in fall 2004, has about 60 students and expects to have more than 100 by the end of this year.
ICCIE said it will update its Web site to reflect the credits assigned to each course and teleconference.
Upcoming courses ICCIE will offer include an online course beginning in April and three traditional courses offered in Philadelphia just before and after the Risk and Insurance Management Society conference.
