ACTtech Gets The Word Out On Tech
Independent agents and brokers seeking the latest technology advancements offered by carriers and system vendors now have one Web site to turn to for this information with the release of ACTtech.
The Agents Council for Technology (ACT) announced the creation of this new Web site that is accessible through www.independentagent.com and clicking on the ACTtech link.
The site allows agents and brokers to look up the technology offerings of carriers and vendors and to see where progress stands in creating new technology. The site will also offer continuous updates on technology advancements, as well as contact information.
Linda Dodson, chairwoman of ACTs Agency Company Communications Working Group and e-business consultant in Corporate Strategic Marketing for Warren, N.J.-based insurer Chubb Group of Insurance Companies, said the site would prove to be an invaluable resource for agents and brokers wanting to know where technology advancements stand.
"[Finding this information] has been a source of frustration for agents for a while," said Ms. Dodson. The site, which is open to the public, allows an individual to do a quick search of company or system vendor offerings, or a more detailed search for specific vendor or carrier systems.
ACT said ACTtech will offer information on lines of business, the capability of technology for each line, and the system technology that will be used to access that information.
Companies and system vendors will be responsible for updating the information on the site, Ms. Dodson said. There are plans to add dates, indicating when listings were last updated.
While refinements of the system are still taking place, Ms. Dodson said, the site is a useful tool for any agent wanting to see what the latest technology offerings will be.
"I think the ability [of this site] to begin spreading the word [about technology updates] easily for agents will be incredible," noted Ms. Dodson.
