Susan Voss Named Iowa Insurance Commissioner

NU Online News Service, Dec. 15, 3:59 p.m. EST?Susan Voss, an attorney with a lengthy career in state government, has been promoted to the post of Iowa insurance commissioner replacing Terri Vaughan, who resigned after 10 years to take a college teaching position.[@@]
Ms. Voss currently serves as first deputy commissioner.
Previously, she was projects director to the commissioner and a policy analyst for the Iowa Department of Revenue and Finance. In addition, she was staff attorney for the Iowa State Legislative Bureau, legal counsel for the Iowa State Citizens' Aide Ombudsman and assistant attorney general for the Iowa Department of Transportation.
Gov. Tom Vilsack said she "brings an immense amount of experience and tireless sense of dedication to a vital role for the security of Iowans and the future of our state."
Ms. Vaughan served in her post for 10 years and has been the state's longest serving commissioner. She was the president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners in 2002. Most recently, she took a lead role in introducing the interstate compact to nationalize the life product review process.
She resigned effective Dec. 31 to join Drake University's Business College.
