Brown Elected CIAB Chairman
NU Online News Service, Oct.6, 3:37 p.m. EDT?The Council of Insurance Agents and Brokers has elected J. Hyatt Brown, chairman and chief executive officer of Brown & Brown Inc., of Daytona Beach, Fla., as its chairman for 2005.[@@]
Mr. Brown was elected chairman during a general membership meeting held at the 91st annual Insurance Leadership Forum at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va.
Elected vice chairman was Charles Daniels, senior vice president of Rose and Kiernan Inc., Pawling, N.Y. Kenneth M. Padgett, managing director of Marsh, New York, was elected treasurer, and George A. (Shad) Steadman, president and chief operating officer of the Rutherford Companies of Roanoke, Va., was elected secretary.
Mr. Brown was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 1972 and served as Speaker from 1978 to 1980.
He served on the Florida Board of Regents from 1982-1989, and he was chairman of the Board of Trustees at Stetson University and remains a trustee.
