Virtual University Turns To Paid Subscription
NU Online News Service, Aug. 11, 11:00 a.m. EDT?The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America will end free access to its Big "I" Virtual University on Sept. 1, and begin paid subscription service for non-members.[@@]
Members will continue to have unlimited free access to the university as a member benefit.
The Alexandria, Va.-based association said non-members can obtain subscriptions to the site for an annual fee of $395. Non-member groups can purchase 10 or more individual subscriptions at discount pricing of 10 percent off each subscription over 10.
In addition to access to the site, non-members would receive a subscription to VUpoint, the biweekly university e-newsletter, its fully searchable archives, and access to the library.
The change will not have an impact on accessibility to insurance education classes available online.
IIABA said members should ensure that their employees have continued access by obtaining a user ID and password, which can be obtained through the association's Web site.
Individual subscriptions can be purchased online at the Virtual University using a major credit card.
