McKay Named PCI Washington Rep
NU Online News Service, Aug. 2, 10:51 a.m. EDT?Property Casualty Insurers Association of America, Des Plaines, Ill., recently announced that Benjamin J. McKay III will serve as the new director of federal affairs in its Washington, D.C. office.[@@]
Mr. McKay is the former chief of staff for U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris (R-FL), PCI said.
Carl Parks, PCI senior vice president for federal affairs, said Mr. McKay's "legislative experience and background working on insurance issues before the House Financial Services Committee and at the state level will prove invaluable as Congress continues to grapple with key insurance issues."
Before working for Ms. Harris, Mr. McKay served for over a decade as a senior staff member in both the Florida House and Senate. His tenure included service to legislators on the insurance committees of both chambers, including the vice chair of the Banking and Insurance Committee in the Senate and a member of the Property and Casualty Subcommittee in the Florida House.
He also served as deputy secretary for International and Legislative Affairs at the Florida Department of State and was promoted to chief of staff for the agency.
PCI is composed of more than 1,000 member companies, representing a broad cross-section of insurers. PCI members write $154 billion in annual premium, 38 percent of the nation's property-casualty insurance.
