Black Named JLT Latin America COO

NU Online News Service, Aug. 2, 12:29 a.m. EDT?London-based Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group, plc, said it has named Margo Black chief operating officer of JLT Latin America.[@@]

Ms. Black will be based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She was previously a managing director with Heath Lambert Brazil Re and has more than 20 years experience in the industry in both London and Latin America. She has held senior positions with SCOR and Munich Re.

Ms. Black's appointment follows JLT's agreement with UK-based Heath Lambert Holdings Limited to acquire HLH's insurance and reinsurance businesses in Colombia and Peru. In Mexico, JLT, in partnership with the 25 percent minority shareholder, will assume HLH's reinsurance interest.

The firm also said it is entering into an exclusive representative agreement with HLH's former subsidiary in Venezuela.

JLT said it has an established 15-year presence in Brazil, with offices in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. The new combined operation includes 500 employees.
