Applied Underwriters Names Ferenc Chairman

The San Francisco-based carrier said that Mr. Ferenc assumes the newly created position of board chairman, while continuing in his capacity as chief executive officer.
"I am now in a better position to lead the senior management team and guide the company's long-term plans for growth," said Mr. Ferenc.
The board also approved the appointment of Mr. Menzies as president, in addition to his duties as chief operating officer. The office of president was previously held by Mr. Ferenc.Mr. Menzies said he intends to keep the company focused on meeting the current needs of small-to-medium businesses.
Applied Underwriters noted that Mr. Ferenc and Mr. Menzies had founded the firm in 1994 and have led it through ten consecutive years of profitable growth.The company has over 500 employees and locations in five metropolitan areas. Applied serves businesses across the the nation through independent property and casualty agents.
