Mexico Chapter President Jorge Escalera, whose group was voted a charter last month, was presented at the session.

Lance Ewing, RIMS president, said, "We welcome the Mexico Chapter and urge them to get involved in the Society at all levels."

Mr. Ewing said it was important for RIMS "to expand our membership base in order to support each other as global risk professionals."

The chapter will be headquartered in Monterrey and currently has fifteen members, including five officers of the chapter.

Besides Mr. Escalera, the officers are: vice president, Judith Palacios of Copamex; secretary, Maria Garcia of Compania General de Servicios; treasurer, Jorge Elizondo of Xignux; and RIMS Delegate Cesar Silerio of Alfa.

Cesar Silerio, Risk Manager of Alfa Corporation in Monterrey, Mexico, approached RIMS about becoming a chapter in order to increase their education and visibility within their own organizations as well as the world.

"The Mexican risk managers are looking for high-level continuous education in our profession. We are sure that through RIMS we will be propelling ourselves to meet this objective in our country. We have great plans, working together with the RIMS Mexico Chapter and the Risk and Insurance Management Society," said Mr. Escalera.
