Markel Insurance Joins Trusted Choice
NU Online News Service, March 23, 12:15 p.m. EST?Markel Insurance Company, a provider of specialty insurance products and programs, is the newest company to become a partner in the Trusted Choice branding effort by the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America.[@@]
The Glen Allen, Va.-based underwriter joins six other national insurers in the IIABA national branding initiative created for independent agents and brokers to highlight the benefits they offer to consumers.
By joining Trusted Choice, companies become affiliated with other independent agents already supporting the program and can use the branding logo in their advertising and corporate material. To be a company partner, the carrier pays a formula fee based upon their premium volume.
The Alexandria, Va.-based agent association said that more than 3,500 independent agencies and insurance brokerage firms have joined the program in just two years, along with 18 regional insurance companies.
Markel, a subsidiary of Markel Corporation, develops and underwrites specialty insurance products and programs in a variety of niche markets.
The company's underwriting includes child- and youth-related facilities in the U.S. and special risk and health programs for markets including student accident, student health and sports accident coverage for schools and colleges.
Markel also writes equine-related insurance products and offers other coverages in that market.
