Lloyd's Gives U.S. Brokers Awards
NU Online News Service, March 9, 3:52 p.m. EST?Lloyd's of London has honored Gary Cooney of McGriff, Seibels & Williams as U.S. Surplus Lines Broker of the Year and John Gilbert of Holborn Corporation as Reinsurance Broker of the Year.[@@]
The award recipients were chosen for their achievements within the U.S. industry and their contribution to the Lloyd's market.
Mr. Cooney is vice chairman of McGriff, Seibels & Williams, headquartered in Birmingham, Ala. He was instrumental in creating McGriff's Energy and Marine Division.
Mr. Gilbert is president of Holborn, based in New York, a position that he has held since 1973.
Lloyd's established the U.S. Broker awards in 2002 to highlight the role brokers play in Lloyd's success in the U.S. insurance and reinsurance markets.
