Progressive Unveils Full-Service Claim Centers

NU Online News Service, Jan. 14, 3:35 p.m. EST?Agents and customers now have an easier alternative to getting a car repaired after an accident, according to Progressive.[@@]

The Mayfield Village, Ohio-based company announced that drivers now have the option in 17 markets across the country to either manage the auto repair process themselves or have a Progressive claims representative and hand-selected auto body repair shops manage the process on their behalf.

Under the program, after reporting the accident to Progressive, the driver drops the damaged car off at the claims center and picks up a rental vehicle.

A Progressive claims representative handles the rest of the process of repairing the car and keeping the customer informed of the process. When the work is done, the customer picks up the car at the claim center. The work is guaranteed by the shop and Progressive, the carrier said.

"The Progressive Claims Service Center is one of a kind," said Rick Goldberg of the Contemporary Insurance Agency in Monroeville, Pa. "It's the future of claims service. It saves the customer and the agent time, there are fewer follow-up calls to make, and a lot less follow-up work."

Sites for the service include Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio; Philadelphia and Pittsburgh; Richmond and Virginia Beach, Va.; Orlando, Tampa and Jacksonville, Fla.; New Orleans; Tempe, Ariz.; two locations in Atlanta; two in Houston as well as in Dallas; Indianapolis; Detroit; and Washington, D.C.

Progressive said it plans to continue rolling out sites in 2004.
