Jewett Named Endurance Re President

NU Online News Service, Jan. 12, 12:55 a.m. EST?Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd. of Hamilton, Bermuda, said today that it has named William Jewett president of its U.S. unit, Endurance Reinsurance Corporation of America.[@@]

The firm also announced that Steven Carlsen, the subsidiary's outgoing president, will lead Endurance's newly forming unit, Endurance Services Ltd.

William Jewett has been serving as chief operating officer at Endurance Reinsurance Corporation of America. Mr. Jewett joined Endurance in December 2002 from Converium Reinsurance where he was chief underwriter of risk strategies, the nontraditional reinsurance underwriting division.

Steven Carlsen, who will now lead Endurance Services, has worked as Endurance Re's president since its formation in late 2002. The company explained that the new unit, Endurance Services, will focus on improving operational efficiencies across the Endurance Group's three operating platforms in Bermuda, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Mr. Carlsen will continue to serve as chairman of Endurance Re as well as chairman of Endurance Group's underwriting committee.

Endurance Specialty Holdings offers a variety of property-casualty coverage through its subsidiaries in Bermuda, the U.K. and the United States, with an emphasis on catastrophe policies. The company's primary lines include property individual risk and casualty individual risk, while reinsurance lines include property per risk treaty reinsurance and property catastrophe reinsurance as well as casualty treaty reinsurance.
