AMS Users Appoint Industry Advocate

The Dallas-based AMS Users' Group has announced the appointment of Linda Rollings as the groups first industry advocate.

The group said the position would give the organization one consistent voice and face in the industry to impact automation-related issues that benefit group members.

Ms. Rollings automation experience encompasses 20 years of innovation both within an insurance agency and as a strong voice in the users group.

She is retired from Dimond Brothers Agency Inc., a subsidiary of Edgar County Bank, based in Paris, Ill., where she was the agencys automation technology chief.

Her years of experience there, and her knowledge about the technology that todays independent agents need to succeed, uniquely position her to advocate members needs to carriers, vendors and agents alike, AMSUG said.

"Technology brings tremendous opportunities to independent agents," Ms. Rollings said. "By adopting universal standards, promoting cooperation between our software vendors and carriers, and bringing key workflow efficiency issues to the forefront and keeping them top of mind, we can affect positive change for our agents."

In speaking with the National Underwriter, she added that the focus of her work would be to get the industry back to not just focusing on business, but also back to servicing customers and putting the notion of single-entry technology back on the industrys agenda.

According to AMSUG, Ms. Rollings was intimately involved in the formation of the group when some of the first agents to use the AMS system met in Atlanta to discuss what they needed from their vendor. The result of those discussions was the birth of The AMS Users Group.

Since that time, the group added, she has served on nearly every board position and committee, and was the group's first female president.

"Linda is the ideal person for our new industry advocate position," said Roy Riley, president of The AMS Users Group. "She understands the needs of our members, she knows her way around the industry, and she is committed to achieving our goal of becoming a trusted advisor on automation-related issues."

"The AMS Users Group is an amazing organization that has already achieved a great deal," Ms. Rollings said. "Just look at where we've come with SEMCI. My goal is to work hard to bring even more success to our membersdedicated small and large independent business people who really care about their customers. If I do my job well, their customers will benefit. Automation is not only about productivity, its about service."

Ms. Rollings will be representing the AMS Users Group at industry events, to carriers, vendors and other agents. She will also continue to build on the strong working relationship between Windsor, Conn.-based AMS Services Inc. and the users group.
