NA To Expand University Programs

NU Online News Service, Dec. 30, 1:00 p.m. EST?The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research announced it will introduce the Certified Risk Manager international courses to university and college representatives at the Western Risk and Insurance Association conference in Las Vegas, January 2-5, 2004.[@@]

"The CRM Principles of Risk Management course is an ideal stepping stone into the risk management field for business majors," explained James W. Kallman, executive vice president of The National Alliance in Austin, Texas, and director of the CRM program. "It provides an overall knowledge of the risk management process and gives students the background they will need to succeed in more advanced courses."

Lance J. Ewing, executive council president of the Risk and Insurance Management Society Inc. in New York, will be a featured speaker at the WRIA event. Mr. Ewing is vice president of risk management for Park Place Entertainment, a CRM faculty member, and a member of the board of directors of The Academy of Producer Insurance Studies.

Additionally, Mr. Kallman will introduce the new peer-reviewed Journal of Risk Education, due for publication in mid-2004. The JRE, co-sponsored by The National Alliance and RIMS, will feature a compilation of articles from teaching professionals on new and innovative teaching theories and techniques.
