Miller Named CAS President
NU Online News Service, Dec. 12, 3:15 p.m. EST?Mary Frances Miller, senior partner and consulting actuary, Select Actuarial Services, Nashville, Tenn., was elected president of the Casualty Actuarial Society at the organization's annual meeting in New Orleans. She succeeds Gail M. Ross, manager and senior consultant, Milliman USA, Princeton, N.J.[@@]
Stephen P. D'Arcy, professor of finance, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, was named president-elect.
Ms. Miller joined Select Actuarial Services in 1999 after serving as chief actuary for Sedgwick Insurance Brokers. She began her insurance career with American States Insurance Companies.
Mr. D'Arcy joined the faculty at the University of Illinois in 1981. Prior to his current position, he was the actuary at CUMIS Insurance Society and an actuarial student at Aetna Insurance Company. He is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and has served on the CAS board of directors and as chairman of both the CAS Long Range Planning Committee and the Task Force on Education and Testing. Mr. D'Arcy served as president of the American Risk and Insurance Association 1998-1999.
