Customer's Interest In Insurance Limited

NU Online News Service, Dec. 23, 9:31 a.m. EST--While most people know insurance is important, few are interested in learning more about it, a survey by Integras Insurance Audit reveals.[@@]

The consulting firm's survey found that 74 percent of households said they have both auto and homeowners insurance, while less than 60 percent have auto, homeowners and life insurance. However, only 22 percent said they would be willing to attend a financial seminar to learn more about insurance products.

The survey of 27,000 households covered the auto, residential, life, health and annuities insurance industries.

Of the 74 percent of households with auto and homeowners insurance, two-thirds have their policies with the same institution. However, among those with auto, homeowners and life policies, only three percent said they have all three policies with the same institution.

Of those who switched auto or homeowners policies in the past three years, 58 percent of homeowners said they did so to get a lower price, while 75 percent switched auto for the same reason.

The survey also found that less than three percent of households are uninsured.

Integras is a division of San Diego-based Calritas, a marketing information and services firm.
