AIG Aviation Names Myers Chairman
NU Online News Service, Oct. 1,Steve Blakey, executive vice president of AIG Aviation, will assume Mr. Myers' former role as president. Mr. Blakey joined AIG in 1980 and was appointed to his current post in 1997.
Mr. Myers began his career in aviation underwriting in 1966 when he started working at Southeastern Aviation Underwriters. He joined AIG Aviation in 1983 when Southeastern Aviation was bought by AIG. Mr. Myers has been serving as AIG Aviation's president since 1993.
AIG Aviation, based in Atlanta, is part of the New York-headquartered American International Group Inc. AIG Aviation has more than $1.3 billion in gross premiums written. It offers insurance products ranging from commercial aviation operations to personal aircraft coverage.
