PIA Names Progressive Co. Of ?03
NU Online News Service, Sept. 10, 11:04 a.m. EDT–The National Association of Professional Insurance Agents announced it has given its Company Award of Excellence for 2003 to Progressive Insurance.
The award, for commitment to the agency system, was presented Sept. 6 during a ceremony in Milwaukee held in conjunction with the Alexandria, Va.-based national PIA board of directors meeting.
"This year's recipient of the PIA National Company Award of Excellence is a carrier with a long-standing commitment to independent insurance agents," Terry Adams, PIA president-elect, said in a statement. "Progressive demonstrates that commitment every day and is a steadfast supporter of the agency distribution system."
Willy Graves, director of marketing for Progressive's Agent Business group, said the award bestowed by PIA members and independent insurance agencies "acknowledges our efforts to help them grow by providing them with the products, technology and services that help them attract, and retain, more business."
"Progressive thanks the agents of the PIA for this award. It means a lot to us. It helps affirm our strategy and highlights our commitment to independent agents. We value our long-standing relationship with them and look forward to continuing to grow together," Mr. Graves said.
According to Mr. Graves, the Mayfield Village, Ohio-based insurer grew its agency business by 26 percent last year, to a total of 30,000 independent insurance agencies.
With another award, the association named Richard C. Pierce Company Representative of the Year. Mr. Pierce is vice president and senior marketing manager for the Mid-Atlantic region for GMAC Insurance. The award honors a company representative for outstanding service to professional insurance agents, the insurance industry and their community.
