HRH Names New President

NU Online News Service, Aug. 28, 1:06 p.m. EDT - Richmond, Va.-based insurance broker Hilb, Rogal and Hamilton Co., has named Robert B. Lockhart as its president and chief operating officer.

The position was held by Martin L. Vaughan III, before he was named chairman and chief executive officer effective in May, the broker said yesterday.

HRH said Mr. Lockhart joined the firm as vice president and director of the northeast region in 1999 when the company acquired American Phoenix Corp.

He has worked for over 20 years in the insurance brokerage business holding various executive positions, including responsibility for both domestic and international retail operations.

Mr. Vaughan said, "Bob Lockhart's experience in the industry and with HRH make him a natural candidate for this position," He said Mr. Lockhart performed well as a regional director and a member of the company's executive leadership group, understood and is committed to executing company strategy and "has the respect of his peers and the ability to attract and retain top-notch insurance professionals."
