African American Insurance Pros Set Confab
NU Online News Service, July 1, 12:54 p.m. EDT?The Washington, D.C.-based National African-American Insurance Association said its National Conference and empowerment Summit will be held Sept. 19-21 in Las Vegas at Caesars Palace.
The group, which is dedicated to empowering African-American insurance professionals and increasing their numbers nationwide, said it expects some 300 independent agents, company representatives and industry professionals to attend.
NAAIA said its annual summit attracts a wide range of insurance and risk management professionals from across the nation who attend seminars on leadership, professional development, and education courses on timely insurance topics.
NAAIA Chairman Roosevelt Haywood III, president of Haywood and Fleming Associates in Gary, Ind., said the meeting will feature keynote speakers and panel discussions offering solutions to the challenges faced by minorities in the industry as well as companies looking to tap into the multicultural marketplace.
Power networking, career-building workshops and problem-solving discussions will provide a forum for corporate recruiters and others attending from many of the top U.S. insurance companies, Mr. Haywood said.
The NAAIA provides insurance companies a means to link to "the African-American buying sector of the emerging marketplace. Our Las Vegas Empowerment Conference was designed with that purpose in mind," said Mr. Haywood.
More information on the conference and registration is available by calling 1-866-566-2242 or visiting the Web site www.naaia.org.
NAAIA noted that its summit precedes the Las Vegas InfoXchange sponsored by the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America, at the same location.
