Neary Named SCIF Exec VP

NU Online News Service, March 3, 8:55 a.m. EST?The California State Compensation Insurance Fund announced on Friday that James F. Neary has been appointed executive vice president.

Mr. Neary, who was State Fund's vice president and a member of its Executive Committee since 1995, succeeds Norm Hansen, who will retire from State Fund on March 28.

Mr. Neary joined State Fund's Executive Office in 1987 as corporate planning and research officer where he worked closely with the organization's Executive Committee.

In 1995 he was named vice president. His appointment coincided with the deregulation of the system ("open rating").

In announcing his appointment, State Fund President Dianne Oki wrote, "Jim Neary has worked tirelessly to balance the needs of California's employer community with those of the injured worker and the State Fund. His perseverance and dedication to our mission have been extraordinary."

State Compensation Insurance Fund is California's largest provider of workers' compensation insurance with approximately 266,000 policyholders.
