Near North Brokers Super Bowl Halftime

NU Online News Service, Jan. 24, 10:50 a.m. EST?Insurance broker Near North announced it has secured coverage for the half-time show for Super Bowl XXXVII.
David Oliver, senior vice president in the Chicago-based firm's Los Angeles office, said the transaction is typical of the type of entertainment accounts the firm has secured over the years.
He said the coverage, which involves up to nine different lines, was secured for Tenth Planet Productions, under very short notice?two weeks. He said it is typical special event coverage.
Mr. Oliver said he has secured this type of coverage before, in the course of working with Emmy Award winner Joel Gallen and Bill Urban, the event's producers.
He would not disclose the amount of premium for the halftime event, but said it was "substantial," covering the performers, equipment and workers' compensation. The coverage is underwritten by Gulf Insurance Company, a subsidiary of Travelers, and Media-Professional Insurance Co.
However, he said, all performers signed an injury waiver for the event.
Scheduled to appear are singer Shania Twain, the musical group "No Doubt," and a "superstar-surprise guest to be announced."
The game is scheduled to be aired Jan. 26 on at 6 p.m. EST.
