Free Access To Weiss Ratings In February
NU Online News Service, Jan. 31, 10:40 p.m. EST?Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.-based Weiss Ratings Inc. announced it is offering free, unlimited access to its safety ratings and investment ratings throughout the month of February.
The independent provider of ratings and analyses of financial services companies, mutual funds and stocks said consumers and businesses are deluged with conflicting and sometimes misleading advice from Wall Street.
"Access to independent, unbiased ratings will greatly benefit the individual investor," David Lackey, president of Weiss Ratings Inc., commented in a statement. "In the current climate of economic uncertainty, this is an ideal time for consumers to evaluate the risk in their investment portfolio and the safety of the financial institutions handling their money."
Weiss Ratings said it issues safety ratings on more than 15,000 financial institutions, including banks, insurance companies and brokerage firms. The company also rates the risk-adjusted performance of more than 11,000 mutual funds and more than 7,000 stocks.
Weiss Ratings said it is the only major rating agency that receives no compensation from the companies it rates?its revenues are derived strictly from sales of its products to consumers, businesses and libraries.
