SEMCI Petition Draws To A Close

Every week, the SEMCI Petition gains a little more momentum, with 1,400 signatures as of mid-November.

The deadline for taking part in this petition is December 15.

Perhaps you remember the SEMCI talk of the 1980sthe promises and the subsequent disappointments. I assure you, today's movement is different.

Incredible technological progress has been made. If a carrier has a proprietary site in place, they're halfway there. Real-time processing through SEMCI won't require years of rework and false starts. As our early adopting carriers like Progressive and Travelers have shown us, the transition is not monumental from a technological standpoint. And the payoff to independent agents is great.

I've seen demonstrations of other applications that enable carrier Web sites to work with our management systems. I've seen how many man-hours single entry can save, as well as the rate of error. The exciting news is, what was a slow evolution in the 80s has become the revolution of today.

The technology is in our backyard, and we won't have to wait another three decades to make our businesses more productive and more profitable.

If you haven't already signed the petition, I urge you to log onto www.amsug.org and do so todaynot only for the industry, but for yourself.

Think about what increasing your revenue-to-employee ratio would do for your overall profitability. Think about the increased productivity of your staff. And think about what accomplishing more tasks in less time really translates intoadditional time for selling, for creating new, innovative service offerings and finding new ways to give your agency a competitive advantage.

Join us in the crusade. Sign the petition by December 15. Our time has finally come.
