Steven Levy Named American Re CFO

NU Online News Service, Dec. 19, 12:03 p.m. EST?American Re Corp. in Princeton, N.J., announced today that M. Steven Levy will become its Chief Financial Officer, effective January 1, 2003.

He will fill a vacancy created by the departure of George T. O'Shaughnessy, who said he will leave the firm Dec. 31. Mr. O'Shaughnessy announced he was leaving after 14 years with the firm to pursue personal interests, noting "it is time for me to move on and have more time to spend with my family."

Mr. Levy is currently president of American Re Credit & Surety, a strategic business unit of the Company's principal operating subsidiary, American Re-Insurance Company.

He will retain management oversight of American Re Credit & Surety, which provides surety and credit enhancement products to insurers and other entities.

Mr. Levy, as CFO, will report to Wolfgang Engshuber, president, Corporate Centers of American Re, and will have reporting to him the company's senior vice president and controller, its vice president of corporate taxes, and several other vice presidents.

Mr. Levy joined American Re in 1997. American Re Corp. is a member of the Munich Re Group, Munich, Germany.
